A Glimpse into the Mind of a 9-Year Old

My little sister stays with me for a week every summer to attend our church's Vacation Bible School. I thought it would be fun to interview her and get her perspective on things. 9-year olds are always guaranteed to have some insight about life. The orange text is my commentary.

To answer your question, yes it's just the two of us. Yes, same parents. Yes, they just waited a reeeeeeeeally long time.

Welcome to the mind of a 9-year old!

Hi! I'm Bethni!
Alexis's Mini-Me!

What is mom’s favorite thing to do?
Sleep
Geez, Mom, I think you need a new hobby.

What marriage advice would you give mom and dad?
Try not to get in a fight. Love each other no matter what.
See, insightful.

What do you think makes a person good-looking?
The way they act.
Aw, I'm proud of this answer.

What do you like best about Dad?
He’s fun. He plays catch with me.

How much money do Mom and Dad make?
$400 a month.
Sounds like mom and dad need new jobs! As many hours as they work, they are only averaging $.80 an hour!

How many kids do you want to have when you get older?
2, because I could have one that’s a boy and one that’s a girl.

If you could choose a new name for yourself, what would it be and why?
Kat, because I like cats.
I hope this is not a foreshadowing that she will be a crazy cat lady!

How would you change the world if you could?
I’d make it where everybody would have to be a Christian.
God gives us all a choice, but I'm sure He would like that too! :)

If you were the teacher and the class wouldn’t listen to you, what would you do?
If there were stars, I’d take their stars. Then, I’d give them a referral.

What do other kids think about you?
I’m funny. They think I sing good.
Do you sing good? Yes.
Well, at least she's humble.

What kind of people do you not like?
People that try to boss you around and that think they’re better than everybody.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
A teacher, because I’d probably get to teach math and I like math.
She clearly hasn't gotten into Calculus yet!

What is the hardest part about being 9?
That you can’t wait to be 10, because I want to be it so bad.
What does a 10 year old get to do that a 9 year old doesn't?!

If you were going to spend one year on a desert island and could only take three things with you, what would they be?
iPod, charger, unlimited supply of chips
I asked her what she thought about the fact that she wouldn't have any electricity for the charger. Gasp! I don't knoooooow.

What is the nicest thing I ever did for you?
What have you did for me besides let me stay in your home? Because you let me answer these questions.
Apparently I should do nice things for her more often.

When is a time you were really mad at me?
When you tickle me.
This particular time was not just a normal tickling. She BEGGED and BEGGED me to tickle and wrestle with her. It ended with her in tears and me laughing at her for crying after begging me to tickle her, thus causing more tears. Don't dish it if you can't take it! ;)

Tell me something that’s really funny.
Whenever somebody that I don’t like gets hurt.
Brutal, Bethni! Don't mess with a 9 year old!

Well, that was fun! I'm working VBS this week at our church, so I'm gathering all sorts of childlike insight every day!

I was out of town yesterday because I went to the Florida Country Superfest on Sunday, so I apologize for not posting. I had loads of fun, but you know there's always a story behind a concert like that! That's a different post for a different day!

Hope you're having an awesome day!
